|
Singapore, June 14, 2006: Benchmark Broadcast Systems are proud to announce that they, along with A A Systems, have been chosen by the Television Media Network (TMN), part of the well known Lakson Group, a major industrial conglomerate, as Systems Integrators for their forthcoming new television station in Pakistan. TMN decided to award this systems integration project to Benchmark Broadcast Systems (S) Pte Ltd and A A Systems after an extensive and thorough evaluation process that took more than a year. The Lakson Group already runs the “Daily Express” Urdu language newspaper. This national daily is the largest circulated newspaper in Punjab. The group has joint ventures with leading multi nationals such as Colgate Palmolive, Philip Morris, McDonald’s and Tetley Tea. It operates the largest ISP in Pakistan and is also diversified into manufacturing paper & board, textile, spinning, printing, insurance, etc. Mr Ashish Mukherjee, President of Benchmark Broadcast Systems, made several visits to Pakistan to meet with the senior management of TMN and discuss the project, its objectives and proposed workflows in fine detail. During this period and as part of the evaluation process, TMN officials also visited several stations that were implemented by Benchmark. Finally, after going through all the various proposals they had received with a fine tooth-comb, TMN decided to award the project to Benchmark Broadcast Systems and A A Systems jointly. "We chose Benchmark and A. A. Systems because they have proven expertise in this field," said Mr Ghulam Nabi, Director Technical, TMN. Mr Agha Muzaffar Ali, one of the directors of A A Systems said, “ When TMN approached us with the idea of starting a new channel and asked us to help them out, we started looking for a suitable partner and the first name that came into our mind was Benchmark. Mainly because of three reasons – they are professional, they are economical and they are trustworthy people”. Mr Ashish Mukherjee said, "Most of the complete stations that we have done have become the leaders in their field. It is our hope and wish that TMN will become the number one in Pakistan". Elaborating on why TMN had opted for the combination, proposed by Benchmark, of an Octopus newsroom system, Aveco automation system and Vizrt graphics and virtual sets, Mr Mukherjee went on to say, “The solution that we have proposed is a tried and tested one with each product very tightly integrated with the other... Moreover, it is very cost effective and, due to the tight integration, the workflow becomes very fast and easy. For example, a journalist can, at his own workstation, open the Vizrt graphics program and do the CG himself. All this means that work gets done faster with lesser manpower. This has a positive impact both on the running cost as well as the effectiveness of the station. It is not by accident that most of the stations that we have installed became leaders and are now running extremely profitably". Mr Raghu Rajagopalan, Managing Director of Benchmark Broadcast Systems, said, “We are very pleased to have been awarded this project and look forward to working with TMN. They are extremely professional and know exactly what they want their station to deliver. At the same time they are extremely open and receptive to ideas and concepts and more than willing to embrace new solutions in pursuit of their objectives”. He added, “We are positive that the station will do well and, like Ashish, I too hope that they will soon become the leading TV station is Pakistan”.
