The Benchmark Optical Fibre Laboratory Systems - OFS Series I, II and III - are designed to provide an extremely comprehensive level of training, both to students as well as to all levels of scientific and technical personnel, in the concepts and application of fibre optics in digital communications and engineering. The OFS Series are designed and built to cover theoretical understanding as well as practical applicability.

The Benchmark OFS Series are comprehensive fibre optic laboratories designed to be fully functional from day one. They comprise of high-end 1300nm components and high-speed 1300nm single-mode links and all necessary fibre optic components to enable users to configure their own links.

• Each OFS Series is configured with fully compatible fibre optics equipment and components to carry out a series of structured experiments
• OFT Fibre Optics and Digital Communications trainer demonstrates integrated voice/data communication links, TDM and digital communication principles. It offers unlimited experimentation using on-kit circuitry and external interfaces, including an RS-232 add on
• 650/850/1300nm LED light source with variable optical power output, continuous wave, external modulation, internal word and PRBS generation
• Power Meter calibrated at 650, 850 and 1300nm with readout in dBm/micro watts
• Links using plastic and glass fibre - for experimentation and as interface modules for other digital circuitry
• Connector and splicing kits - to provide students with hands on experience in connecting and splicing glass fibre
