Available in two different versions, the SAF family provides unprecedented flexibility for use in a variety of configurations as a stand-alone chassis or as storage behind DataDirect’s award-winning S2A Silicon Storage Appliances.

• SAF2048: 48 Disks all on a single FC Dual-Port SBOD (1x48 Mode)
• SAF4048: 24 Disks on each of two FC Dual-Port SBOD (2x24 Mode)

The innovative enclosure design of the SAF family ensures that even in such a high-density form factor customers will have a mass storage enclosure that allows the drives to remain on-line and active during service or maintenance while the switched architecture of the SAF isolates each drive for enhanced channel robustness. Designed for outstanding thermal and vibration characteristics, the SAF family provides comprehensive disk and enclosure management capabilities while enabling individual drive swaps even while the system remains in use.

In addition, an LCD display located at the front of the enclosure provides real time status and reporting on all aspects of the overall chassis and 48 disk drives.
