Viz|Artist is a user-friendly broadcast design application. High quality, real-time 2D/3D animated graphics are produced as HD or SD video.
Built with a simple, icon-based drag-and-drop user interface, and sophisticated 3D animation and design tools, Viz|Artist enables the user to produce complex animations for a variety of broadcast applications, including virtual reality studio sets, in less time and with greater creative freedom than with conventional systems. Manipulation of text is a particular feature of Viz|Artist. Extraordinary high-end effects can be achieved for real-time promos, trailers and title sequences, as well as overlays for live events.
Import from Maya™ and Softimage|xsi™
Some Viz|Artist users prefer to design their organic 3D shapes and apply textures to them using other, non-real-time design systems such as Maya or Softimage|xsi. These objects, together with their textures, lights and positions, can be imported directly in Viz|Artist to render in real-time. Softimage|xsi pre-designed animations can also be imported directly in Viz|Artist to render in real-time, and animated scenes can be pre-rendered quickly for future playback.
  
Workflow Efficiency
Viz|Artist enables its graphical elements to be controlled externally; All graphic content can be controlled and timed by Vizrt products such as Viz|Content Pilot™, Viz|Trio™, Viz|Weather™, or by customers’ own tailored applications. In addition, for maximum efficiency, Viz|Artist can be controlled by templates. These templates can be built to control scenes where the content may vary each time. Journalists and other non-technical staff can use Vizrt’s control software, such as Viz|Trio and Viz|Content Pilot, to make their own graphics based on these templates. Viz|Content Pilot also enables journalists to access animated graphics templates, created in Viz|Artist, directly through their newsroom systems. This way, hundreds of high-end animations can be rendered each day without requiring additional designer input.
Video Board
With a Targa™ video I/O board Viz|Artist offers the user an impressive set of advanced video features. The Targa features include: two independent video inputs with 2D DVE effects which can play live video as well as clips, an adjustable video buffer, Chroma Keying, embedded audio with adjustable delay, and other functions expected from a high end video card.
QuickTime Integration
Viz|Artist can integrate QuickTime clips in the scenes. The system can render QuickTime format and playback Quick-Time clips in Viz|Artist scenes with the new Softclip plug-in.
Typical Use
Predominant users are TV broadcasters and production companies who use the system to design for sports, news, weather, business, entertainment and other programs where the situation changes quickly and new graphics are needed to reflect the latest picture. Viz|Artist may also be used for display purposes.
Effects Plug-ins
A designer using Viz|Artist can generate a variety of real-time 3D animations quickly. However, Vizrt can also provide a variety of specialised animation effects plug-ins that are intended to provide a high-quality specialised effect in seconds, saving a great deal of time in the design process.
