    Broadcast Graphics » Vizrt - Viz|Engine™

Viz|Engine is an extremely powerful rendering engine and is the core of all Vizrt’s real-time graphical solutions. 2D/3D animated scenes designed in Viz|Artist are rendered in real-time as high-end animations, and the output is SD or HD video. Viz|Engine systems work with all other Vizrt products to provide users with the total solution for producing their graphic content.

Primarily, Viz|Engine is used to render graphics animations for live TV programs, but can be equally applied to post-production, webcasting, and non-broadcast large scale displays.

Viz|Engine has an open control interface allowing users to integrate their proprietary control software. Viz|Engine supports a command language which allows almost all graphic features to be controlled or changed on the fly from external applications. These control possibilities include editing of text, images, materials, 2D and 3D objects, audio, animations, and many other effects.

Viz|Engine’s early adoption of OpenGL makes it one of the few 3D graphics systems in the industry which can run the same graphics content on multiple hardware platform and operating systems. Supported operating systems include Windows XP/2000, Linux, and SGI Irix. This ensures that users can rely on an upgrade path over time without sacrificing existing content. The HD version of Viz|Engine runs on non-proprietary, rack mountable Windows PC with NVIDIA QuadroFX 4400/SDI graphics card, as well as a specialized PC platform from Panasonic.

Viz|Engine systems support up to four live video inputs which can be embedded in any graphics animations or virtual studio sets. Viz|Engine supports scaling of performance by clustering of multiple systems.

Viz|TargaFX

The Viz|Engine on the PC platform can be configured with an optional Targa video board which enhances the Viz|Engine’s capabilities with the following features:

  • Real-time video output SD with adjustable frame buffer.
  • Two independent video inputs used as background or live video textures.
  • Internal linear keying.
  • 2D DVE, RGBA Input.
  • Supports encoded clips in the following formats: DVCPRO 25Mbit, 50Mbit, and MPEG2.
  • Audio: Mixing and routing of embedded audio channels and adjustable audio delay.
